As architects and sustainability consultants, we think about space planning and design every day. But recently, the design process has hit a little closer to home. We are looking to find a new office space in the next two years for our Philadelphia office.

Marketing and ad campaigns enforce the idea of “going green”, using buzz words such as “sustainability” “eco-friendly”, and “green” in order to draw customers in. But what does that mean? Practically speaking, how does this affect someone in an office setting from day to day?
The Sheward Partnership was commissioned by University Place Associates to serve as the Architect of Record and Sustainability Consultant for its second commercial office building, 3.0 University Place.
Our interior designer, Maegan, was honored to be a guest of Tile of Spain and to spend a week with them in Valencia and Palma de Mallorca, learning about advances in porcelain tile technology and the influence from Spain on the material we see in the United States.
Roof system design may not always be a creative outlet in the field of architecture, but it provides another opportunity for balance: combining the technical tasks of providing an energy efficient and watertight envelope, with appreciating the views of our great city.
